Auron Ski Resort : A Quick Winter Holiday Getaway

Looking for a nearby destination for a day or more on the slopes? No need to go very far to find what you need!

The Auron ski resort is ideally located at 1600m altitude between Méditerrannée and Mercantour, and only an hour and a half away from Nice, making it an ideal getaway whether you’re looking for a day trip or a few days away. The resort boasts a wide variety of activities, slopes and events for everyone in the family to enjoy! Navigate their website to find out their upcoming scheduled activities and events.

Ski

Its ski areas stretch over 135 km of marked-out slopes and they currently have four open lifts for children while blue, red, and black slopes are fully operational. Skiing is allowed for children only through the ESF skiing school and children must have a skiing license which costs 38 euros which will last until the end of the 2020-2021 season. The ESF ski school will provide your child with group lessons (up to 10 kids), and an option for one-to-one classes with the ski instructor. The ski lifts are only allowed to be used if an ESF ski instructor is present with the children. For very littles ones, ESF Club Piou Piou is open and fully operational. Ski lifts remain closed for adults.

Ice rink

Auron's ice skating rink is located in the centre of the mountain village with a rich cultural heritage and the ice skating rink is available for both adults and children at this time.

 

Snowshoes

Snowshoe hikes through the forest and mountains is a very popular activity for adults this year! Snowshoe hires are available at both Auron village and Auron ski station.

 

Cross-Country Ski 

Cross-country skiing is available at the Auron ski station and they offer two tracks, between 1 and 4 km long. If you’re a beginner, why not try out their introductory classes with an experienced instructor.

 

Sledding

Auron offers specially designated areas on the slopes for sledding activities. Sledges can be hired at the Auron ski station and cost between 5 and 10€ per day.

 

Food

Auron Station has a few café/restaurants that are open for take away meals, hot and cold drinks, and plenty of snacks.

Restaurants terraces overlooking the slopes can be used for a quick snack and chill out areas but bring your own chair/picnic blankets to sit on.

 

Accommodation

Auron's Hotels remain closed, however, there is plenty of private accommodation available for rental, make sure to book in advance, especially during holidays!
