Company Name: Musée Océanographique De Monaco

Location: Monaco

Ages: 2 to 102

Description:

Housed in a magnificent building on the rock of Monaco, the views of Monaco and the sea are spectacular. When we first arrived my boys were drawn to the "Bathyscaphe" a large yellow submarine outside. We imagined climbing inside it and diving deep within the oceans as we discovered this world-class oceanography museum. Inside, the floor to ceiling exhibits and aquariums are eye-catching, to say the least. Huge windows into an underwater wonderland. Tropical blue against the purple, pink, and peach corals and a multitude of tropical fish in a myriad of bright flamboyant colours. Suspended from the ceiling are enormous whale skeletons and giant squid. This very interactive museum is great fun for kids. It has a touch pool where children can hold sea cucumbers, see shark egg cases "mermaid's purses" with the baby sharks wiggling on the inside and stroke the ray fish. The piranha feeding event and touching the baby sharks were voted the most exciting parts of our visit. There are a restaurant, bar and a lovely play area which share the same spectacular views.
